The Tattoo Process

Before any tattoo appointment is scheduled, the first thing we need to do is set up a consultation appointment. At the consultation we will sit down together to discuss all of your tattoo ideas in depth so that I can have a very clear idea of the final product to ensure that your tattoo is exactly what you want.

At the consultation I may take pictures and measurements of the area you wish to have tattooed. Once I have all the necessary information I will give you price range estimate. The exact price will depend upon the final tattoo design and size, which will be determined at the beginning of the tattoo session.

At the end of the consultation we will set up your tattoo appointment and I will take a $60 deposit to secure your tattoo appointment. This deposit will come off the cost of your tattoo.

To set up a consultation appointment please click on the “Request a Consultation” button or you can send me an email at moonpoppyshop@gmail.com with your name and phone number so that I may contact you to secure your appointment.

When you arrive for your tattoo appointment I will have your design ready based on our discussion at the consultation appointment. If there are any minor changes that need to be made I can certainly make them for you at that time. If for some reason the changes will take more time to redesign than we have available in our scheduled session, a new appointment will be scheduled to ensure your design is just right.

FAQs

I’ve been tattooed by you before, do I still have to have a consultation?

Yes. Even though I may work on someone for years, a consultation is still required for every new tattoo. Every new tattoo requires an idea discussion, measurements, price estimate, and deposit.

If I have to cancel an appointment, what happens to my deposit?

As long as you give me as much notice as possible, but no less than 48 hours preferably, then we can certainly reschedule the appointment you had to cancel and your deposit will still be redeemable. The only way to “lose” your deposit is if you no call, no show to your appointment (meaning you just don’t show up and you don’t give me any notice of cancellation) or if you have cancelled appointments with less than 24 hours notice more than twice.

My tattoo will take more than 1 session, when will my deposit come off the price?

With tattoos that take only 1 session to complete, the $60 deposit will come off during our 1 session. However, large tattoos may take several sessions to complete. Since the deposit is intended to hold a tattoo appointment, it will hold all of the appointments scheduled to work on that piece so the deposit will come off the cost of the very last session we have for that piece.

Do you tattoo minors?

Yes, but only under specific guidelines. Under Kentucky State regulations, a person of 16 or 17 may be tattooed so long as their parent consents. As a personal rule, I do not tattoo minors above the collar bone (no necks or faces please). By law, before the tattoo appointment, the minor and consenting parent must obtain a letter of consent that has been legally notarized. You can find more information about this on the website for the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Safety under section 7 of Tattoo Regulations: https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/kar/902/045/065.pdf

At the tattoo appointment, the minor and consenting parent must bring: the notarized letter of consent; both parties must have a valid government issued picture ID that includes their name, address, and birthdate (a driver’s license, driver’s permit, or an ID issued at a County Clerk’s office are perfect); and both will sign the consent form.

Is my deposit refundable?

No, your deposit is not refundable. If you are unsure about getting a tattoo, you should wait to put down a deposit until you are 100% committed to your tattoo idea.

What is your tattoo specialty? Are there any types of tattoos you won’t do?

In general I am known for my bright, colorful pieces and especially flowers. I do love tattooing flowers. But I also enjoy tattooing black and gray pieces, realism (I don’t like to do people portraits but I love animal portraits), and just about anything from nature. I also very much enjoy the tiny simple tattoos too.

There are tattoos that I absolutely refuse to do: I will not tattoo anything racist, sexist, homophobic, pornographic, or anything that makes me feel uncomfortable. My shop is inclusive of all colors, creeds, genders, love, and nationalities. I will not tolerate any hate speech or images in my shop.

Also I don’t like to do tribal tattoos.
